Emmerich on the Rhine is a small German city situated in the neighbourhood of another German city called Kleve. The city looks rather modern because it was almost completely destroyed at the end of World War II and then rebuilt. Many people from the nearest villages come to Emmerich to do shopping. Thanks to the beautiful embankment and location on the river bank this city became the local tourist center. In summertime, you can see the tourist ships tied at a wharf. The Rhine bridge connecting Emmerich with Kleve is the longest suspension bridge in Germany. On the parking place, there is an electric car charging point stressing the modern look of the city.
